EU's New Drinking Water Directive – What Does It Mean?

In 2020, the EU Council of Ministers adopted a new Drinking Water Directive aimed at protecting public health and ensuring access to clean drinking water. The directive sets higher demands for quality, sustainability, and transparency throughout the water supply chain – from producers to property owners and municipalities.

New limit values for pollutants have been introduced, and materials in contact with drinking water must meet stricter standards. Products must be tested and certified to ensure they do not negatively affect water quality.
